Gotta push it man.
Build a 6" or 7" under 170g (under 250g with battery). 5" under 250g is so-so easy, especially using 6S 2004 motors.
Hi Romangpro,
I enjoy all of my FPV quads. For my style of flying, I can't tell that much difference from a 2.5 inch GEPRC Phantom to my Katana-LR5x build. Yeah, the 5 incher was smoother and had more power, but then I mostly just cruise. When I want to fly acro, I actually prefer a 2.5 inch.
What I "push" is the envelope, the norms, the conventions. I often "play outside the box" so to speak.
I already had a sub 250 5 inch, the Katana-LR5x which ran 2203 motors. This was a nice build, but I lost it. I do have an extra frame and set of motors so I will build a "twin" brother; just not yet. I have other projects both FPV related and in real life so this one is just on the list of things to do.
Yesterday, 2020-12-13, I took the Phantom-4X out for a flight at the soccer field. When I arrived, no one was on the field and there were only a couple of people at the dog walk on the other side of the parking lot. Fired up with a spare battery until 10 satellites were acquired, change to the main on board battery, have satellites, and away we go; lift off. She was fitted with my standard 3S 1100 mAh GNB battery and flew for over 13 minutes. It was a good flight.

Congrats on your build. Looks really solid. Dont push those HV 1100mah too much.. supposedly only good for 1/3 the cycles of regular batteries.
Hi Roman,
Thanks. She actually flies pretty good and I haven't even tuned it yet. I will tune it after I get a final battery combination. Yeah, running the Flywoo Dave_C 1404 3750kv motors. The AUW with the 3S 1100 battery is 226 grams.
Do the Xing 1404's not perform well? What kv are they? I would think they should be pretty close to the Flywoo motors
Well, you know I am a little eccentric {crazy} If anyone watched me, they would say that I abuse my batteries. Often drain them until the quad drops, rarely discharge batteries that I didn't use that day, and just don't pay attention to the pundits about how to be "good" to your batteries. I guess that is just not my priority. I wouldn't be able to tell if one lasted 30% longer than another one or not. As long as they work and get the Fly Times that I am looking for, that is all that matters to me.
So far, I have had the best results with GNB batteries and the 3S 1100 mAh in particular. I have read where others say that it performs like an 850 mAh, but I can't say. I do know that most 3S 850 mAh batteries weight upwards of 10-15 grams more. I believe that I am getting the most fuel/weight. On the other hand, moving up to the 7 inchers will likely require a different battery.

Hi Roman,
Just looking through this thread and saw this post (again).
Well, 4-inch might be so 2020, but now it is so 2023 on the larger side of sub-250 gram quads. The 3-inch and 3.5-inch seem to be coming on strong in the sub-250 gram category.
Yes, you can do a 5" under 250g, but a 6S battery would need to be pretty small in the mAh area. I guess if you want 2 minutes of ball busting flight, but not if you want a longer, endurance flight.
