Recommended ESCs for 7" quads??
#1
I've always used whatever I've had around for my 7" builds, but I'm thinking about grabbing a more premium esc, so I'm curious what you all recommend from an amperage perspective and your experience...

I'm eyeing these few below right now:

1) NeutronRC 60a (70a burst)
https://newbeedrone.com/collections/all/...8672084051

2) Foxeer Reaper 65a (100a burst)
https://rotorriot.com/products/foxeer-re...1-3-8s-esc

3) Aikon AK32 v3 55a (70a burst)
https://www.racedayquads.com/products/ai...0-4in1-esc

4) Tmotor pro ii 55a (75a burst)
https://www.racedayquads.com/products/t-...4-in-1-esc

I really want something with both current and voltage telemetry, but I'm also looking for something with good clean power and filtering...

... is the hobbywing esc still king??

from your list i would get the aikon just from experience with aikon on the 35a 20x20mm escs, about reputation for myself.

i use the hw 60a 30x30mm on two quads, one is a 7inch.
i would choose it again, i didnt proof many escs on 7inch bymyself, hw 60a seems the most reliable option to me. i believe in the mighty but very huge hw 60a, stresstested over years by the community, old but gold.

i would like to proof a foxeer reaper on a 5inch racer bymyself. there is no esc on your list i would expect low quality, my vote might be just hw-experience based.

personal i doesnt care to much about amprating anymore, 50a or 70a continious, burst currents... all does matter mostly on the advertisement, community stresstests does show the true abilities.

HobbyWing XRotor FPV G2 ESC 4in1 65A
Personally, I would only experiment with ESC in quads that I can just walk to in the event of a problem. I wouldn't experiment with LR if I didn't want to waste time. This HW ESC is not expensive, it has been tested for a long time, I do not change what works. Even with the latest firmware versions, it can dynamically change PWM by RPM up to 128 kHz. And I don't miss the UART for telemetry.
Reaper 20x20 is undoubtedly tested in race quads, I don't know how the 30x30 version is, but it would probably be the most logical of the selection if I wanted to experiment, it's definitely not a cheap ESC...
