New Foxeer Analog 5watt+ vtx
#1
I’m not really surprised 2.5watts has been surpassed and soon Rush will likely make their own version that outperform Foxeers.

It’s supposed to be capable of 6 watts of power.

This 5W Foxeer Reaper VTX was originally showcased in September last year (see another post HERE), so it looks like it took them quite a while to actually release it to market, and I see that the design changed slightly by adding an onboard fan. Gal's video was from 4 months ago so I guess it got released some time back in July.

Due to the size and weight I don't see this going on any quads, so it has probably been aimed exclusively at long range wing pilots.

How to obliterate any other 5.8GHz radio communication signals that are being broadcast in the same area that you are flying Big Grin

I'm surprised to see that a few US vendors are actually selling it. There is also one UK vendor with stock even though the maximum legal broadcast power limit on the 5.8GHz frequency band in the UK is just 25mW Whistling

Can't see a 5W VTX being of use for much more than LR flight. Certainly pointless for bando bashing. Might be of use in a wing, as I think that is what the 2.5W version gets used in a fair bit.

As to 25mW in the UK I don't know anyone who flies at that. most fly at anything up to 1W. I tend to go for around 200-400mW for the most part. Although i now have some 600mW capable VTX to try. But even at places like Matlock bando and the quarries I fly at, I've had zero issues on 200mW and 350mW took me out to a km without issue (and back).
