Cheap transmitter gimbal replacements
#1
As most here know my wife uses Tinyhawks in her classroom.. The Emax Pro pilot (IMO) is the best / first PFV setup.. UNFORTUNATELY, they are not as tough as Tonka trucks..the kids treat the transmitter controllers like X-Box or PS-4 controllers.. so now a “lanyard requirement” has been implemented…and YES, I have repairs to do…
One is a3 position switch.. still trying to locate replacements, and just gonna relocate the other … the other requires a new gimbal..
Even though the components maybe “cheap”.. emax’s assembly (on the controllers) looks real nice.. Notice the yellow “sealant”.. getting the plugs separated was a task.. I wish they used this on the Tinyhawk motor plugs!
According to my (quick) measurements and visuals.. Betafpv replacement gimbals for their smaller controllers measure and look the same… and at $5.99 a piece.. it’s worth a shot.. the $10 shipping sucks, but still $15 to have another quad in the air.. worth it..

All done.. installed and no real issues.. just minor fitment / wiring.
I thought I would have to use longer screws, but the original ones worked just fine.
I did notice a few differences, the POTS were different, so was the plug.. when I thought about just swapping the POTS I noticed the center “slots” were different sizes so they couldn’t be interchanged.. I just used the original plug. Ran into one little issue with this.. the pitch was reversed..I just swapped the wires.. goof to go! The “throw” was the same.. Not like when I repaired a different controller using a Xbox POT..
Fitment was as close as you could expect.. a little “gap” but it looks good from my house…
Hard to beat for $5…since I’m phasing out the old controllers I’m may see if they are interchangeable..
here are the pics
