Brother Hobby Motor VY1507
#1
hello all,

please see spec sheet of motor below. i see there is a 1900kv version but their load test data do not have reference for 6S use case. is it possible to safely use 6S on this motor without needing to clipping the 1900kv via BF settings? i am planning to have the convenience of using both 4S and 6S on 1900kv much like the HGLRC 2004 1800kv which they spec for both 4S and 6S.

Kv isnt related to the voltage only, its also related to the rotorsize, motorsize and weight.
There is no limitation, you could use 8s on 1900kv version, but on a small blade like 3inch as example.

1900kv with a small 1507 doesnt macht 5inch on 6s, maybe it can is the build would weight less than 150g and around 250g uaw - but that would pretty extreme in every way :-)

What rotorsize do you like to use?

i was hoping to use it for both 4S and 6S on a 5in LR quad AUW 400g. what can i set in BF to allow use for 6S?

Set a "motoroutput limit" to about 65% forbzhe use of 6s.

Take care about motorheat, they are small and could burnout if all perfromance is used on 6s and 5inch.
In case of the 1507 its mainly the kv which doesnr match, its the motor volume and (average) requested motorthrust; it might not be able to climb the full rpms from the volume well and that will result in heat than.

Exploring is never bad, but believe you wont get happy with that use of 6s on 1507. It could work with caution, but to much caution doesnt make happy.
I would mention a ittle bit bigger motor, 2203.5 from tmotor as example.

For check the use od 1507 and my suggestion, ecalc.ch might output good data for it. Give ig a try, it would show benefits as usable information like flighttime or downside like bad rotorresponse.

Works perfect on one cell caunt might be better than two badly, lightweight 4s battery sounds like it could be grwat for efficiency cruising.
