Betaflight Github questions
#1
Recently I rebuilt my 5" basher.  It was on BF 4.2 with the "cinematic" PID preset from the BF github page.  I had purchased licenses for the ESC to add bi-directional dshot.  Well, this 'NEW" esc just got Blujay and wanted to re-install that same PID setup on 4.2.( had Flight controller issues- so no cli dump), give it a couple packs...update betaflight to maybe 4.4 or so, and compare.
I was able to locate BF 4.2 on the Github site but could NOT locate the profiles they had before (HD, Freestyle, cinematic).  Does Github "edit" past non relevant "settings" once they become outdated?  if someone does locate these, please post the location... im just curious  why I cant locate them.

The presets are in a different repo: https://github.com/betaflight/firmware-presets
Not sure if was also/already used on 4.2 a current master oldest presets are 4.3, but you could do a clone and check older commits untill you find one that has the 4.2 related presets.

edit: checked out the 1st commit and nothing there that far back. Maybe in 4.2 the presets where in the configurator and not in the repo as the dedicated preset system likely was introduced later. Did you try to check the configurator matching the 4.2 release if it has presets ??

This is where I started..and it flew so well compared to how it used to fly .. I didn’t touch it.. except for adding 6s on 4s motors ..

At the 5min mark you will see JB show you the PID profile for HD.. they WERE all on the same page.. simple lines to paste into the CLI..
Not a big deal.. but after watching and hearing how much of a difference these made to the base 4.2 version.. maybe the Devs just added it to the final and removed it from the page.. who knows..
I MAY have a cli dump from this quad on a old laptop.. I’ll have to look.. if I find it.. I’ll see how it compares to the base 4.2 tune..

found s couple cli dumps.. 4.2.3 was the "oldest", and i may have found another with 4.3 so maybe I did update it and not realized it... Im Pretty sure when the new version of BF got released the PID settings got changed for the better....
Sorry for wasting your time with this thread...I should be getting stick time in... not pounding keys on a laptop...I was just kinda curious...

.. per Sir JB.. no need to update to 4.5 unless your serious about “gps return to home”…
I loaded 4.3 and a profile / tune.. configuration wasn’t so bad since I just did it..
Handling was much better.. so much so, I got a little cocky and put it into a tree… so I was unable to check the motors..
I tried using my “rescue quad” to get it down.. and ended up getting TWO quads stuck…30ft. Extension ladder and a 20ft pole with a hook.. and I was able to retrieve both… lost a motor / esc .. have to troubleshoot. After all this.. gonna take a short break, lick my wounds and regroup before proceeding ..
